Seattle Treatment Education Project

Who We Are

Originally established as an independent non-profit agency in 1989, the Seattle Treatment Education Project (STEP) has recently evolved into a program of Lifelong AIDS Alliance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Located in Seattle, Washington, this group of men and women is dedicated to bringing treatment and prevention information to those infected with HIV or at risk of HIV infection, to health care providers and to members of HIV service organizations.

Our mission is to provide information, education and advocacy for individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, their families, healthcare providers and entire communities. Our goal is to enable individuals to make informed healthcare decisions and to access options and devise strategies for their treatment.

Our Advisory Board members have backgrounds in various professional disciplines. The information we provide is not representative of any single treatment philosophy. Instead, STEP, as a program of Lifelong AIDS Alliance, endeavors to include HIV treatment information from all health care and service providers.

The STEP Program of Lifelong AIDS Alliance is non-partisan and not affiliated with any political or religious group. We seek to operate in cooperation with other HIV service organizations as part of a caring, supportive community.

Our programs are supported by individual contributions, but our services are provided to anyone free of charge. The STEP Program of Lifelong AIDS Alliance does not promote the philosophies or causes of contributors.

Our policies and official publications are the result of careful review and consensus of working Advisory Board members and supporting members. Our efforts represent the activities that members collectively feel will best provide objective information to those infected by HIV or at risk of HIV infection.
