Ryan Syrek is the Executive Editor of Oncology News Central. Prior to joining Oncology News Central in 2023, Ryan worked at Medscape for more than 17 years. Across a wide variety of roles, he wrote and produced award-winning news and features content, oversaw creation of a myriad of reference articles and resources, and developed innovative and interactive products designed to educate and inform healthcare professionals.

He has also contributed to various academic publications, including coauthoring a chapter for African American Children in Early Childhood Education: Making the Case for Policy Investments in Families, Schools, and Communities. Ryan completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
