APF Made Formal Presentations During U.S. Food and Drug
Administration Meeting
Representatives
from APF made formal presentations during the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration’s (FDA) Joint Meeting of the Anesthetic
and Life Support Drugs Advisory Committee and the Drug Safety
and Risk Management Advisory Committee on November 13th and
14th to express the need for well thought out Risk Evaluation
and Mitigation Strategies that
will not only address public safety, but will allow access to appropriate
pain medications to the millions of Americans living with chronic pain.
APF holds no opposition to programs and processes that increase safety
and surveillance of outcomes as long as these systems do no become so
complex that they are set up for failure and frustration for all
stakeholders. The unintended consequences will affect people living
with pain. That outcome is unacceptable. This public hearing took place
as new drug applications and safety profiles of two investigational pain
medications, Embeda™ and Remoxy™ were being discussed.

position statements.
