On June 2, the White House convened its first HIV-related meeting focusing specifically on black men. According to Jeffrey Crowley, Director of the Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP), the meeting was one of several held to inform the development of a National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS). At the meeting, Crowley noted that black gay men represent the largest proportion of HIV/AIDS cases among black Americans but pointed out that black heterosexual men should not be overlooked when addressing HIV/AIDS in black communities.
There were many distinguished speakers and panelists at the meeting, and AIDS Action is happy to share with two of the presentations providing epidemiological overviews: one was given by Greg Millett, Senior Policy Advisor, ONAP and one by Shannon Hader, Director of the HIV/AIDS Administration, Washington, D.C. Department of Health both. Click here to view Millett's presentation and here to view Hader's.
