PEPFAR Releases 2017 Guidance Draft, With Jan. 9 Deadline for Civil Society Feedback

January 3, 2017

With a 10-day window for feedback, the U.S. Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator released a draft of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief 2017 Guidance for Country and Regional Operation Plans on the last work day of 2016 and is inviting civil society and others with a stake in its success to read it and send their thoughts by Jan. 9.

That's 397 pages of science, strategy, and application of both of those, to weigh, and weigh in on in by six days from now. The email sent to civil society members and others affected by PEPFAR's work notes that the "feedback is critical toward achieving sustained control of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and, ultimately an AIDS-free generation." The document also includes a section on "Technical Considerations" to measure and maximize the impact of prevention and treatment efforts, which previously has been a separate document.

The invitation urges those with input to both "collaborate with colleagues and consolidate your feedback before submission." and to "submit any feedback on a rolling-basis and PLEASE do not wait until the final day to provide feedback." It also urges reviewers to "Please fill out the online form with as much specificity as possible, submitting a separate form for each individual section."
