Australian Radio Gets a King's Perspective on What AIDS 2014 -- and HIV Stigma -- Is All About
July 19, 2014
HIV/AIDS activist and blogger Mark S. King took to Australian airwaves in advance of the official start to the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014). Speaking with radio host and producer Dean Beck on JOY 94.9 -- which is billed as Australia's only LGBTI-focused radio station -- King discussed his feelings on the stigma and discrimination experienced by people with HIV, and offered a preview of the major themes on which AIDS 2014 will focus.
The program is set to air on JOY 94.9 July 20, but was posted online ahead of the on-air broadcast. Listen to the audio:
While in Australia over the coming week, of course, King will be video blogging from AIDS 2014 to provide the worldwide HIV community with a glimpse of what it's like to experience the meeting and speak with people fighting HIV around the globe.
