On May 28-29, HealthHIV exhibited on the Workforce Capacity Building Initiative at the 41st Annual American Academy of Physician Assistants conference. The event, which drew over 6000 Physician Assistants, was held in Washington, D.C.

HealthHIV's efforts resulted in reaching numerous providers interested in learning more about HIV mentoring, including a high number of PA students interested in the initiatives' HIV curriculum. Other attendees identified challenges to providing HIV care, including: lack of local resources to provide care for people living with HIV, difficulty obtaining buy-in from leadership at their practice to provide HIV care in primary care settings, and lack of knowledge onsite to provide HIV care.

The HIV Workforce Initiative provides an HIV expert mentor and free access to an online HIV Primary Care curriculum to mentees. For additional information on the HIV Workforce Capacity Building Initiative and how to receive or deliver HIV mentoring, please email
