"Remaining Relevant in the New Reality" Tour Trains ASOs/CBOs in Louisiana

June 2013

Remaining Relevant in the New Reality

Seventy-two representatives from ASOs/CBOs across Louisiana gathered in Baton Rouge on May 21, 2013, to participate in HealthHIV's "Remaining Relevant in the New Reality" tour. The tour helps ASOs/CBOs to remain relevant in the new HIV health care landscape by providing practical tools and resources for organizational sustainability and transformation.

The faculty of nationally recognized leaders took participants through an exploration of new models of care that address the continuum of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services. The hands on workshops provided practical tools and resources for participants. Faculty also helped participants develop strategic partnerships and strategies to prepare for change, implement structured planning processes, assess program costs, and demonstrate program successes.

The "Remaining Relevant in the New Reality" tour offers attendees technical assistance around transforming services -- even while limited resources are being called into question due to sequestration, shifting reimbursements and funding streams, and the transition of HIV services into broader health care systems.

HealthHIV launched the tour in Louisiana, which is home to the second (Baton Rouge) and third (New Orleans) highest ranked cities for HIV diagnosis in 2011. Louisiana also ranks 49th out of 50 states in poorest health outcomes. Last week the tour stopped in Chicago, with future locations and dates to be announced.
