The Bahamas: U.S. Charge d'Affaires Presents $14,000 to Organizations to Promote HIV/AIDS Awareness

U.S. Charge d'Affaires for the Bahamas John Dinkelman awarded grants totaling $14,000 at a ceremony on May 8 to community organizations that submitted winning proposals to the 2013 President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program. The program funds nongovernmental organizations, schools, and organizations focused on HIV/AIDS prevention education and targets at-risk populations and those engaging in high-risk behavior. The U.S. Embassy has provided more than $118,000 in PEPFAR grant funding to Bahamian organizations targeting high-risk groups on New Providence, Grand Bahama, and the Family Islands since 2009.
