HIV activist and educator Matt Sharp sits down to talk with Steven Deeks, M.D., David Margolis, M.D., and Sharon Lewin, M.D., to discuss the latest developments in HIV cure research coming out of CROI 2013. They talk about research surrounding ways to measure and characterize the latent HIV reservoir, using vorinostat (SAHA) to flush HIV out of the reservoir, the role of inflammation in cure research, and developments in gene therapy.

  • Steven Deeks, M.D., is professor of medicine at University of California, San Francisco.
  • David Margolis, M.D., is professor of medicine, microbiology and immunology, and epidemiology, at the School of Medicine, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
  • Sharon Lewin, M.D., is infectious diseases physician and head of the Department of Infectious Diseases (DID) in the Central Clinical School, Monash University, as well as Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit at The Alfred Hospital.

I found the information very optimistic and the research insight provides great energy for a cure. I loved it and desire to have BodyPro continue the updates.
