Boehringer Ingelheim Launches Hepatitis C Web Portal for Patients, Health Care Providers

January 17, 2013

The pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim recently launched the website www.HepCRedefined.com to provide resources and tools for individuals infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The company collaborated with HCV community advocates and healthcare providers to create the portal, which offers a range of interactive tools and information that can be shared through social media channels, placed on other websites, or viewed on various smart devices. Michael Ninburg, executive director of the Hepatitis Education Project, states that "HepCRedefined.com is designed to aggregate straightforward and accurate information in a single, virtual destination." CDC estimates the United States recorded 16,000 cases of acute HCV and 3.2 million individuals with chronic HCV infection in 2009.
