facial lipoatrophy

QUESTION:

i have a patient, nyc, who has severe facial lipoatrophy, and he is tyring to find a provider or clinic that will accept medicaid as his insurance.

RESPONSE FROM:

    Thanks for your post.

I would contact your patients case manager or local AIDS service organization regarding which providers are accepting new patients and their respective insurance requirements. It is not clear to me from your question as to how the facial lipoatrophy figures into this decision, but it's worthwhile knowing that there are patient assistance programs from Dermik for patients to receive Sculptra- this often brings treatment for lipoatrophy into a more affordable range, since most insurance plans do not adequately cover such treatments.

I hope this is helpful, BY
