Fitness Drugs and HIV

QUESTION:

My former foster son is living with AIDS and is 20 years old. He thoroughly enjoys weightlifting but often gets sick after lifting. His T-cells are approximately 550 and viral load is about 1500. Overall, he is pretty healthy.

In order to become even stronger and in hopes of preventing "after workout" illness, he has made the decision to try one or all of these fitness products: dermagain, maxteron and equi-bolan. His physican informed him that these products should not interact poorly with his HIV meds. However, I have my reservations as these products are not tested extensively. Do you have any thoughts on whether or not these products are okay for those with AIDS.

RESPONSE FROM:

    Thanks for the question.

If your son is not taking HIV medications, the risk for serious drug-drug interactions, or interactions with "fitness" medications and HIV should not be significant. -BY
