Legal Use of HIV Tests Posted: Dec 8, 2005 QUESTION: Legal case involves if HIV infected individual passed his virus on to 2 sisters or whether they were infected from others. Gene sequencing tests? Which ones? Others in community would have to be tested. Cost of tests?


RESPONSE FROM: There is no way that I know of to absolutely prove transmission from one person to another. Viruses from people can be compared and the relatedness of these determined but this still would not seem to be to be conclusive. DW
