management of vit. B12 deficiency in HIV/AIDS Posted: Nov 18, 2007 QUESTION: Will you please give advise on treatment guidelines speciifically for HIV/AIDS patients who are vitamin B12 deficient? For example initial treatment to increase the serum level to with-in normal limits and suggested maintanience dose and frequency (if considered neccessary). thanks


RESPONSE FROM: There is nothing special about replacement of B12 in HIV+ persons. The work up and management should be the same as in the HIV uninfected. DW
