Is it possible Posted: Aug 27, 2007 QUESTION: Dear Sir I would like to know that is it possible for Male Aids patient to provide virus free sperm for birth of baby?


RESPONSE FROM: Yes. It is possible. There is a procedure called sperm washing in which the sperm is separated fromn the remainder of the semen. Sperm is not infected with HIV but cells in the semen are. The isolated sperm are then implanted in the woman's uterus via artificial insemination. This procedure is expensive and is offered in the US and Europe. DW
