QUESTION:

hi iam 36 and was diegnosed last yr 2006 with phnumonia sarcoma kopsi on the feet and aids,i have had 8 month of treatmnt pentamidina once a month and truvada and kaltra,at present my cd4 has risen to 281 and viral lad undtctble pls pls wot is a rough life expectancy with all of this illnss? i live overseas and would lik very much to nowas weather to rtrn to family and friends??? pls answer me thanx

    Thank you for your post.

    From what you've described, you had quite severe HIV/AIDS with kaposi's sarcoma and pneumonia.

    You're on a very potent HIV treatment regimen that has clearly suppressed your virus (undetectable levels) and increased your CD4 counts out of the AIDS range (less than 200). At this CD4 level, it would be safe to discontinue your pentamidine treatments.

    Provided that you continue to have access to medications and can faithfully adhere to the meds, there's no reason why you shouldn't live healthy for many, many years to come or to travel to visit with your friends and family.
