Kidney damage scare/tenofovir

QUESTION:
I've read good things about a 1st time combo for me(low cd4,high viral) of tenofovir,efavirenz & lamivudine. But should I be woried about kidney damage from the tenofovir? Another 1st time combo I'm considering of AZT,3TC & efivirenz I've heard bad things about AZT regarding poss Lipo and bone marrow probs...i have to stop worrying and try something!!! Any med combo opinions???

RESPONSE FROM: 
Provided that you don't have preexisting kidney disease, there is little evidence to suggest that tenofovir causes excessive kidney injury.
Either combination that you've listed are among the best performing regimens, with excellent, well-controlled clinical trials data, and represent my most commonly prescribed initial regimens (assuming that the patient has drug susceptible virus). BY
