QUESTION:

Is tenofovir + atazanavir + ritonavir good combination~. The interaction atazanavir + tenofovir made not useful this combination. Thank you

    Thanks for your post.

    Tenofovir lowers atazanavir levels. This why all current indications for the combination advise the addition of ritonavir to TDF + ATV regimens.

    The 3 drug regimen that you propose is not recommended, since two NRTIs are recommended in combination therapy. If either 3TC or FTC is added to tenofovir, then the addition of atazanavir and ritonavir comprises a regimen that is one of several currently recommended (or preferred) on US treatment guidelines.
