EFV doses

QUESTION:

one basic question please what is dose of EFV. the literature i searched mentions dose 600mg for adult patients and for children according to weight bands. what is the cut off for age for children? i have few adult patients(age more than 15 yrs) and having weight ranging from 27 kg onwards. please let me know.

    Thanks for your post.

    These data are derived from pediatric dosing. For low weight adults (I'd use ideal body weight, rather than actual weight for this purpose) less than 40 kg, the dose of efavirenz should probably be reduced. For those between 25-32.5 kg, 350 mg is recommended.
