Side Effects of Triommune 40

Posted: Jul 30, 2006

QUESTION:

Do you know if one of the side effects of triommune 40 is pain in the legs (internal) . If so what can be done about it

RESPONSE FROM:

    Thanks for your post.

I have difficulty in assessing your patient's symptoms. Internal pain in the legs can come from a wide variety of conditions; I'd be concerned about venous thrombosis or cellulitis, first off.

The stavudine (d4T) component of Triomune is associated with hyperlactatemia or lactic acidosis, conditions that can cause muscle pain. I'd be certain to consider (and hopefully, discard) this diagnosis.

    I hope this helps. BY
